{peek} Spring Minis | Yreka, CA Professional Portraits

April 28th was the first of our planned Mini-Sessions for 2012.  Spring Mini sessions took place at Rachel Hanna Park inside the Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds. It was such a beautiful setting and I cannot wait to shoot there again.

The first session was with Miss Krystal, isn’t she beautiful!?!

Next up was Baby T for his 9 month portraits. Mini-sessions are great for capturing those little in-between milestones during the year.  The Tummy to Toddler collections include one of these sessions as well. He wasn’t really into having portraits on this day though, until I brought out the little chair, then he only wanted the chair. Such a little cutie patootie.

And last but not least, I shot my own children, who actually cooperated for once, without an extreme amount of bribery.

{peek} Sweet Baby D |Siskiyou County Newborn Photography

Oh, my goodness, I’ve got to love on some tiny babies in the past month or so, and this little guy was no exception. I was supposed to get to photograph him while he was still in his mama’s belly, but the morning of our session, he decided he would rather make his entrance into this big wide world.  So, this  was our first official meeting and he was such a sweet little love and an amazing little sleeper. We started off with the family portion of their session, outside in the beautiful morning sun. We wandered from one side of the house to the other, taking advantage of a couple sweet spots for the light. I was glad when I got there that the spring grasses hadn’t been mowed yet, it made for a great portrait setting. After getting some super sweet shots of mom, dad and baby, we tried coaxing the other two members of the family to join us, but they weren’t interested in posing for us. They (the two beautiful chocolate labs) would rather chase rocks and look for sticks this time, but we’ll get them the next go round.  After the little bit of fresh morning air, we headed inside to get to work making some gorgeous portraits of their sweet little guy. He was a great sleeper and allowed us to move from set to set without much fuss. I am so blessed to get to capture these special moments and look forward to watching Baby D grow up through his Very First Year as part of his Tummy to Toddler collection.

Here’s a peek at some of my favorite shots from their first session.

{peek} First Family Portraits, The Machado’s | Weed Portrait Photographer

Last week I had the privilege of shooting the Machado family’s first family portrait session. I met them several years ago when I worked a regular 9-5pm job, before I had children or a husband, back when the kids were still kids and not young adults. I always feel blessed to be able to capture special moments for families but being given a job like this makes me feel incredibly honored.

I headed out for their session a bit early in hopes to grab a blended coffee at my favorite shop, but didn’t make it to town quite in time. After doing a few things in the office I took the scenic drive out to the chosen location, an abandoned roadside barn on a beautiful river bend, a little bit early. I already knew that this was one of my favorite places to soak in the world, so planned on getting a few shots in before we were to get started.  When they arrived I was eyeballing a couple of the “neighborhood” horses, who always capture my attention. Then it was time to get to work.  It was a ton of fun, lots of laughing, jokes and sunshine.

Here are a few of my favorites from that beautiful April afternoon.

This one of the kids is one of my favorites from their session. I really love their natural expressions and the Shasta Valley wind helped us out just a bit and died down slightly.

You guys were so much fun, I cannot wait to have you into the office to view your slideshow.

{peek} Baby P | Happy Camp Newborn Portraits

On Tuesday, my personal chauffeur (aka: the hubby) drove me to the tiny town of Happy Camp so that I could make some newborn portraits of this sweet baby boy.  When I walked into their home, I knew exactly where I wanted to shoot, right next to the sliding glass door, on the hardwood floor, on the empty wall, it was PERFECT lighting, a photographers dream, because it’s always all about the light.  We started off the session with a little baby snuggling from dad while his momma finished getting herself ready.

There is SO much love in their household, Baby P is one lucky little guy. I am so blessed to be able to call this my ‘job’ and was able to capture some of my most favorite newborn portraits ever.

So here is a little peek at their session.

This last one is probably one of my all time favorite newborn images.  I absolutely LOVE it.

{peek} Pretty Sisters K & A | Yreka Family Photographer

The first part of April I put out a quick little casting call so I could get a couple of springy images for the upcoming Mini-Sessions promotional and marketing pieces.  Once they came into the office we chatted just a bit and then headed out to one of our local parks and had a mini-session. They were so stinkin cute together and even with the slight chill in the air these little sisters were great models for me. Here’s a little peek at some of their images.
